WHAT IS LAUNCHBOX?

LaunchBox is a summer accelerator run by Ireland's highest ranked university, Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin. LaunchBox is open to teams of Trinity students with an early-stage business. This three-month summer programme provides office space; funding; mentorship; access to alumni, partner and investor networks; and the ideal collaborative environment to launch new startup ventures. The Pitchbook University Report (2017) listed Trinity as Europe's number 1 university for producing entrepreneurs. LaunchBox is generously supported and partnered by Bank of Ireland.

Start-ups that began at launchbox

Previous LaunchBox teams have gone on to yield great success, with various teams securing funding to take their startups to the next stage of development. Alumni startups from the first five LaunchBox programmes have collectively raised in excess of six million euro since 2013. 122 full-time jobs have been created by LaunchBox startups to date. Social enterprise Foodcloud (LaunchBox 2013) was profiled in TIME magazine and has secured partnership with Tesco. Touchtech Payments (LaunchBox 2014), a Fintech payment startup is now working with finance giant VISA with offices in Dublin & London. Of the 2016 and 2017 cohorts, MatchDay, EvoPass and Equine Medirecords have successfully secured follow-on funding from external funders, while over half of the startups supported are still in business.

We remain extremely proud of all the entrepreneurs and startups that have come through our programme since 2013.

HOW DID IT START?

Launchbox started in the summer of 2013, initiated by Vinny Cahill, the Dean of Research and supported and funded by a syndicate of Trinity Angels. As of the year 2015, the program was funded by Trinity under the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Hub, with Bank of Ireland as its innovation partner.
